“Over The Moon Now”: Aamer Jamal About Playing For Pakistan Against Australia in Tests

Aamer Jamal, the all-round batsman for Pakistan, expressed his pride on Friday in representing his nation in the current three-match Test series in Sydney against Australia. Speaking during the third day’s tea break of the Test match, Jamal described representing his nation in the long-format game as a major “achievement” for himself. He went on to say that he has the confidence to play well in the series because of the captain, vice-captain, and coaching staff. Speaking about his 82-run strike in Pakistan’s first inning, Jamal said that the visitors were able to tie the game because of his collaboration with Mir Hamza.

“I am ecstatic right now. Being able to perform for my nation and represent it at this level makes me proud. For me, this is a fantastic accomplishment. Even though it has been a long time, I still remember the times I visited to see the Pakistan Tea Games; now, I am a representative of my nation. All I do is support myself each time. I believe in myself even when I give up runs. Giving boundaries is a part of trying to gain a wicket. The coaching staff, captain, and vice-captain have been a source of confidence for me. They desired that I bowl in the manner that I was. We were seven down for 227, but Mir Hamza’s partnership with him got us back into the game, and now we’re even up by a few runs,” Jamal said.

In five innings of the current Test series against Australia, the 27-year-old has amassed 125 runs at an average of more than 31. Along with his outstanding bowling performance, he shared the most wicket-taking record with Pat Cummins in the three-match Test series with 18 wickets.

Recalling the second session of the third day, Australia and Pakistan were playing their third Test match in Sydney when Mitchell Marsh’s half-century in the third Test and his partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey placed Australia within striking distance of a lead.

Australia scored 289/6 at Tea, led by 50* Marsh. With Travis Head and Marsh both undefeated at six, Australia opened the second session at 199/4. Head’s miserable series continued when he was trapped leg before wicket by Aamer Jamal for only ten runs. At 205 runs, Australia was five down.
