Modi shook hands with the dejected-looking Indian players, mentioned their winning streak of ten games, and even made a joke with Jasprit Bumrah, asking whether he spoke Gujarati.

“Ten games have been won by you guys. It happens,” Modi informed Kohli and Rohit.

Mohammed Shami, the top wicket-taker in the league, was embraced by him.

Modi said, “Shami, you did very well this time.”

After giving them a quick speech to inspire them, he asked the players to meet with him in Delhi whenever they had time.

India, who were making their fourth appearance in an ODI World Cup final, were the favorites because of their incredible performance throughout the league stage of the game.

India defeated all nine teams in route to the semi-final of the tournament, beginning with an outstanding six-wicket victory over Australia in Chennai.

They fell to Australia in Ahmedabad on a challenging field after defeating New Zealand in a thrilling match in the round of four.

With a record-breaking 765 runs from 11 innings, Kohli concluded the competition, while Shami claimed 24 wickets from seven games.

In the ODI World Cup final, Australia had defeated the Indian men’s team twice before. The team captained by Sourav Ganguly advanced to the championship match in 2003 as well, but Ricky Ponting’s team emerged victorious.

Australia has now won six ODI world cups, breaking the previous record.

Now that their five-match series begins on Thursday, the two sides will resume their rivalry in Twenty20 International cricket.

Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the captain of India’s 15-man team for the five matches.
