<p>According to information gathered by the website Layoffs.fyi, over 1,106 IT enterprises fired 248,974 workers as of November 11.</p>
<p>1,024 IT businesses let go of 154,336 workers in total last year.</p>
<p>Big Tech companies and startups alike have sacked workers, citing the state of the global economy.</p>
<p>In the previous two years, there have been around 555 job losses every day on average, or 23 people per hour.</p>
<p>There were 89,554 layoffs in January alone.</p>
<p>Retail and consumer technology were the two industries with the most employee layoffs this year.</p>
<p>There will likely be additional layoffs in the coming months of 2023 since it is not yet ended.</p>
<p>This month, many IT and gaming businesses let go of employees.</p>
<p>Ubisoft, a French video game publisher known for well-known titles including Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, has reorganized and restructured its firm, laying off over 124 workers.</p>
<p>Unity, a software development business for games, has said that it would “probably” implement layoffs as a cost-cutting strategy.</p>
<p>The parent company of Snapchat, Snap, restructured to streamline the social messaging business, which included the firing of around 20 workers with product management positions.</p>
<p>According to reports, US-based F5, a pioneer in multi-cloud application security and delivery, fired 120 workers last month.</p>
<p>The global communications corporation Viasat is cutting off 800 workers, or around 10% of its staff. The effect of the layoffs will be seen throughout departments and countries within the company.</p>
<p>Only a few months before being acquired by the massive global networking business Cisco, the US-based cybersecurity startup Splunk revealed that it would be laying off around 7% of its worldwide personnel.</p>
