Disgruntled Shreyas Iyer fires out at Journalist over Question on Kurz Ball

Shreyas Iyer, who shone at the bat, making 82 runs off only 56 deliveries in India’s convincing victory over Sri Lanka, was not pleased with some of the questions made by reporters at the post-match press conference about his alleged weakness with the shorter ball.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-265329″ src=”×450.png” alt=” isha malviya is exposed by salman khan on bigg boss 17 1394978 gill 11zon” width=”1483″ height=”890″ srcset=”×450.png 750w,×614.png 1024w,×461.png 768w,×90.png 150w, 1200w” sizes=”(max-width: 1483px) 100vw, 1483px” title=”Disgruntled Shreyas Iyer fires out at Journalist over Question on Kurz Ball 3″>

“I wanted to ask, short ball has been a problem for you since the beginning of this World Cup and today we saw some great pull shots,” a journalist had posed to Iyer. We are aware of South Africa’s skill with short balls, but how ready are you for their next match?

Iyer said, “It’s a problem?” as if the inquiry had irritated him. He asked the interviewer to elaborate.

The journalist went on to explain that he had been concerned by a delivery.

The hitter then retaliated against the reporter by inquiring as to how many pull-shots he had hit that resulted in a boundary.

Iyer, a native of Mumbai, reaffirmed his position that he had no problems with the shorter delivery, citing the Wankhede pitch’s even bounce and more bounce than other pitches as reasons why he was able to handle the situation.

“You are bound to get out when I go to hit some shots, and sometimes it may work, sometimes it may not,” he had further said. It hasn’t worked for me most of the time, so maybe that’s why you believe I have an issue with it. But I’m certain there isn’t an issue in my head.

Before the match against Sri Lanka, Shreyas Iyer had just one half-century against Pakistan, indicating that he has not been playing well. However, as India prepares to play South Africa in their eighth tournament match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the hitter seems to have recovered his form. Having gone undefeated in the World Cup so far, the Men in Blue will want to continue their winning ways.
