<p>At the intersection of Saincteclette and the Boulevard du Neuvieme de Ligne, in the heart of Brussels, three miles (5 km) from the King Badouin stadium, a gunshot targeting three individuals happened around 45 minutes before kickoff.</p>
<p>In this occurrence, two people passed away. The National Crisis Center of Belgium claims that a third victim, a cab driver, is safe.</p>
<p>When it was decided to call the game at halftime, the score was a 1-1 tie. The King Baudouin Stadium’s rules required spectators to remain there until their departure was approved by security.</p>
<p>“The UEFA EURO 2024 qualification match between Belgium and Sweden has been abandoned as a result of a potential terrorist assault in Brussels this evening, it has been determined following consultation with the two teams and the local police authorities. In due time, more information will be delivered, according to a statement from UEFA.</p>
<p>Following a man’s self-identification as the attacker in a social media video, the National Crisis Centre increased the terror warning in Brussels to the highest level.</p>
<p>According to the National Crisis Centre, there is yet no evidence linking the incident to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.</p>
