GLAM Opens Northeast Chapter and Accelerates in East India as It Scales in Step with the Country’s Quick Commerce Boom

GLAM Opens Northeast Chapter and Accelerates in East India as It Scales in Step with the Country’s Quick Commerce Boom

Guwahati marks the start of an inclusive expansion into Northeast India across both quick commerce and e-commerce, while Kolkata and the districts of South Bengal anchor a fast-growing East India network.

Greenteck Logistics and Mobility Private Limited (GLAM), a rider-first digital commerce delivery platform founded in 2022, is entering its next phase of growth on two fronts. The company has begun recruiting riders in Guwahati, its first step into Northeast India, and is at the same time scaling its East India network at speed, with Kolkata and the districts of South Bengal now its prime focus.

The moves come as India’s quick commerce sector, worth around 1.08 lakh crore rupees in 2026 and growing at close to 40 percent year on year according to Equirus, keeps pushing beyond its metro base. GLAM’s dual push into the East and the Northeast reflects both the direction of that market and its own view of how a delivery network should grow: quickly, but built to last.

Opening the Northeast for both quick commerce and e-commerce

Northeast India has long sat at the edge of the country’s delivery map. Difficult terrain, dispersed populations, uneven last-mile infrastructure, and daily routines that do not fit metro delivery patterns have kept most quick commerce and e-commerce networks from serving the region at scale. GLAM is treating that gap as an opportunity rather than a reason to stay away.

Its rider recruitment drive in Guwahati is the first step in a wider plan to bring dependable last-mile delivery to Northeast cities across both quick commerce and traditional e-commerce categories. The company is building the network around inclusive hiring that reflects the demography of the region, and around work patterns designed to fit local routines rather than override them. For riders, that means organised earning opportunities in places where such work has been scarce. For platform partners, it means a way to reach customers in a region that has been hard to serve without giving up on speed or reliability.

The choice runs against the sector’s current instinct. Roughly nine in ten new dark stores opened by India’s top quick commerce players in the April to June 2026 quarter were in cities they already served. GLAM’s Northeast move is a deliberate step in the other direction, into markets that the boom has largely skipped so far.

Speed and scale in East India, with Kolkata and South Bengal at the centre

East India is where GLAM’s growth is showing up most sharply right now. Kolkata is the anchor. As one of India’s densest metropolitan markets, it has become GLAM’s prime focus in the East. From that base, the company is extending its network into the districts of South Bengal, markets where quick commerce is expanding fast but where reliable rider capacity has not fully caught up. Each new dark store or fulfilment centre that opens in the region is a new call on delivery partners, and GLAM has positioned itself to answer that call. Independent forecasts back the regional bet. Mordor Intelligence projects East India as the country’s fastest-growing quick commerce region through 2031, at a 14.44 percent CAGR. GLAM’s current numbers in the region suggest it is running well ahead of that pace.

“India’s quick commerce and e-commerce boom is a once-in-a-generation shift, but it will only last if the rider networks behind it are built to last too. Our job is to grow with the market in East and Northeast India, open real opportunities in places that have been left out of the story so far, and do it in a way that riders, partners, and the communities we serve can rely on for years, not months,” said Vijay Dobriyal, Founder and CEO of GLAM.

Growing in line with a market rewriting Indian retail, sustainably

The wider backdrop is a sector in one of the fastest growth cycles anywhere in the world. India’s quick commerce GMV was around seven billion dollars in FY25 and could reach roughly 35 billion dollars by 2030 on a Cornell University projection cited by IBEF. The combined dark store networks of the largest platforms have already climbed from around 3,400 to over 5,000 in a single year, and tier 2 and smaller cities are set to account for nearly 88 percent of India’s new online shoppers this decade.

All of that expansion runs on people. Industry estimates suggest e-commerce and quick commerce platforms will add close to a million gig workers in 2026 alone, on top of an existing gig workforce of around 13 million. GLAM’s growth is designed to move in step with those numbers. Its digital-first onboarding system gets new riders verified, trained, and earning far faster than manual processes allow, and it activates them across a partner network that spans Flipkart Minutes, Flipkart LMA/E-Kart, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, and Blinkit.

The company argues that speed alone is not the point. A rider-first model, transparent earnings, steadier work, and support that keeps pace with the industry, is what turns short-term hiring into a stable network, and what lets a delivery partner grow at the same rate as the market without turning into a churn machine. In GLAM’s reading, that is how a young sector like Indian quick commerce becomes a durable one.
